June 22 – U.S. President Donald Trump on Saturday confirmed that American forces carried out a “very successful attack” on three nuclear sites in Iran, including the heavily fortified Fordow facility.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, President Trump stated, “All planes are safely on their way home,” while commending “our great American warriors.” He concluded his message by saying, “Now is the time for peace.”
The announcement comes amid intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, with both nations engaged in over a week of aerial strikes that have resulted in casualties and widespread damage on both sides.
Israel had earlier launched its own attacks, stating that the operations were aimed at eliminating Iran’s capability to develop nuclear weapons. Iran, in response, has repeatedly maintained that its nuclear program is solely for peaceful purposes.
Despite multiple diplomatic efforts by Western powers to de-escalate tensions, hostilities have continued to escalate.
In a separate message, Trump added, “Fordow is gone,” referencing the underground nuclear enrichment facility located near Natanz.
According to U.S. sources, the strikes were carried out using B-2 stealth bombers, which had been deployed to Guam earlier on Saturday. A U.S. official, speaking to Reuters on condition of anonymity, confirmed that the bombers were involved in targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure.
It remains unclear whether Israeli forces were directly involved in the latest strikes, which mark a significant escalation in the conflict.
The Biden administration has not officially commented, but President Trump emphasized that the mission was a unilateral U.S. operation. While he stated the attacks were successful, he also signaled a desire to avoid further conflict, calling for peace.
The situation continues to evolve rapidly, with global attention focused on potential retaliatory moves by Iran and further international responses.
