Former First Lady Shiranthi Rajapaksa and SLPP National Organiser and Parliamentarian Namal Rajapaksa appeared before separate law enforcement authorities this morning (03) to provide statements in connection with ongoing investigations.
Shiranthi Rajapaksa, the wife of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa, arrived at the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) a short while ago to record a statement regarding alleged financial irregularities involving the ‘Siriliya’ funds. She had earlier been summoned to appear on January 27, 2026, but through her attorney requested a two-week extension, citing her inability to attend on that date. Subsequently, she was instructed to appear before the FCID today.
Meanwhile, MP Namal Rajapaksa arrived at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) following a summons to provide a statement over alleged links to underworld figure known as “Kehelbaddara Padme.” It is reported that he had been previously summoned but sought a new date as he was overseas at the time, leading to today’s appearance.
The appearances of both Shiranthi Rajapaksa and her son Namal Rajapaksa before investigative authorities took place on the same day, in connection with separate ongoing probes.
