GovPay Processes Over Rs. 500 Million in Digital Payments

GovPay, Sri Lanka’s secure and user-friendly online platform for government digital payments, has processed more than Rs. 500 million in transactions, according to the Ministry of Digital Economy.

The platform enables citizens and businesses to make payments safely and conveniently for a wide range of government-related services — including taxes, fines, utility bills, education fees, and other service charges — through banks and digital financial channels.

As of today, 37,715 transactions amounting to Rs. 568,666,330 have been completed via GovPay, covering 184 government institutions, the Ministry stated.

Managed by LankaPay, Sri Lanka’s national payment network, and supervised by the Information and Communication Technology Agency (ICTA) and the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL), GovPay ensures enhanced control, accuracy, security, and transparency in government financial operations while modernizing revenue collection processes.

Launched in February 2025 under the leadership of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake and the Minister of Digital Economy, the platform is being implemented in multiple phases to strengthen Sri Lanka’s transition toward a fully digital economy.
