Special traffic plan in Colombo during 2026 ICC T20 World Cup matches
Sri Lanka Police will implement a special traffic management plan in Colombo during the 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held from February 07 to March 08, 2026.
According to the Police Media Division, matches in Sri Lanka will be hosted at the R. Premadasa Stadium, Maligawatte, and the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) Stadium, Kurunduwatte, with Colombo serving as the main host city. Authorities expect a large turnout of local and international spectators on match days.
Traffic plan for R. Premadasa Stadium
Traffic restrictions will be imposed as required on roads leading to the stadium, including:
Entry towards Babapulle from the junction of Vinson Perera Mawatha (Grandpass Road) via Britto Babapulle Bridge Road
Entry towards the stadium from the Babapulle Bridge area
Entry from Sebastian Ela Road via Melwatte Bridge
Entry from the junction of Adi 100 Para and Temple Road
Entry from the side road near Maligawatte Lane (Stadium Road)
Entry from the junction of Saddharma Mawatha and Temple Road (Khettarama Road)
Special match days and transport arrangements
Special arrangements will be in place for the following matches at R. Premadasa Stadium:
Sri Lanka vs Ireland – February 08
India vs Pakistan – February 15
Sri Lanka vs Zimbabwe – February 19
On these dates, police will enforce a special traffic plan and operate dedicated shuttle services. Parking will be available at:

Mati Park Car Park (Grandpass Police Division)

Parking for other match days
For matches on February 11, 13, 21, 25, and 27, parking will be allowed around the stadium under normal arrangements. Additional parking locations include:

Traffic movement will be restricted on February 07, 09, 10, 14, and 18 on the following routes:
Entry into Maitland Place from the Government Administration Junction
Maitland Place from the Vidya Mawatha Junction
Vidya Mawatha from the Wijerama Junction

Security arrangements and public notices
Police said 1,500 officers and 600 traffic police officers have been deployed to ensure safety during the tournament.
Spectators are strictly prohibited from bringing the following items into stadiums:
Large bags
Glass bottles
Drone equipment
Sharp objects or knives
Drugs and alcoholic beverages
Police also confirmed that intelligence officers and officers in civilian attire will be deployed in and around stadium premises to strengthen security.
