Level 3 (Red) Landslide Evacuation Warning Issued for Multiple Areas in Four Districts

The Disaster Management Centre (DMC) has instructed District Secretaries to immediately evacuate residents living in landslide-prone zones in the districts of Kandy, Kegalle, Kurunegala, and Matale, following the issuance of Level 3 (Red) landslide warnings by the National Building Research Organization (NBRO).

The highest-level alert was issued due to ongoing adverse weather conditions, with the NBRO identifying several high-risk locations across the four districts, prompting the need for urgent precautionary measures.

Accordingly, the DMC has directed authorities to relocate vulnerable residents to designated safe centers between December 9 and 19. Evacuation operations will be carried out in coordination with District and Divisional Secretaries, NBRO officials, Grama Niladharis, the Sri Lanka Police, and other relevant agencies.
