The Colombo District Secretary has urged residents living in low-lying areas to evacuate immediately due to the risk of flooding from a possible overflow of the Ambatale bund.

People residing along both sides of the roads from Kaduwela to Malabe, Athurugiriya to Malabe, and Malabe to Battaramulla have been asked to move to safer locations without delay.

Authorities have advised evacuees to proceed to Malabe Boys’ School and Pittugala Yasodara School, which have been designated as temporary shelters.
