Hamas Rejects UN Security Council Resolution on Gaza, Warns International Force Would Become ‘Party to the Conflict’

Hamas has rejected a U.S.-drafted resolution adopted by the United Nations Security Council supporting President Donald Trump’s Gaza plan, arguing that the measure undermines Palestinian rights and seeks to impose an unwanted international presence in the territory.

In a statement, the group said the resolution “fails to meet the rights and demands of the Palestinian people” and accused the proposal of paving the way for an international trusteeship in Gaza — a concept opposed by Palestinian factions and resistance groups.

Hamas further warned that deploying an international force inside Gaza with responsibilities such as disarming resistance groups would violate neutrality.

“Assigning the international force with tasks and roles inside the Gaza Strip, including disarming the resistance, strips it of its neutrality and turns it into a party to the conflict in favor of the occupation,” the statement said.

The comments come following the UN Security Council’s endorsement of Washington’s plan, which aims to shape post-war governance and security arrangements in Gaza.
