President Anura Kumara Dissanayake returned to Sri Lanka last night (July 30), marking the conclusion of his three-day official state visit to the Maldives, which began on July 28 at the invitation of Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
During the visit, President Dissanayake engaged in high-level discussions with President Muizzu, Cabinet Ministers, and senior Maldivian officials. Talks covered a wide range of bilateral, regional, and global issues of mutual concern.

President Muizzu hosted a state banquet in honor of President Dissanayake at Kurumba Resort. On July 30, both leaders took part in a ceremonial tree planting at Sultan Park in Malé, commemorating 60 years of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and the Maldives.
President Dissanayake also addressed a business forum co-hosted by the Sri Lankan High Commission in Malé and the Sri Lanka–Maldives Business Council of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, and later met with members of the Sri Lankan community in the Maldives.
Emphasizing the deep-rooted friendship and people-to-people ties between the two nations, the President reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s commitment to strengthening mutual cooperation across diverse sectors.
President Dissanayake was accompanied by Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Minister Vijitha Herath and a delegation of senior officials.
