Colombo, June 19 – The Lanka Railway Controllers’ Union has announced that it will engage in a 48-hour token strike starting from midnight tonight, citing unresolved issues including delays in promotions.
Union General Secretary K.D.D. Prasad stated that the strike is being launched based on several long-standing demands, including the implementation of key reforms within Sri Lanka Railways.
He further noted that further trade union action will be considered depending on the outcome of discussions with railway authorities scheduled for this morning.
The strike is expected to disrupt railway operations islandwide, with potential delays and cancellations across the network.
